iSing Silicon Valley Girlchoir joins International Robert Schumann Choir Competition

Int. Robert Schumann Choir Competition

From June 6 - 10, 2018 INTERKULTUR welcomes the American iSing Silicon Valley Girlchoir to the international celebration of Schumann’s compositional works in Zwickau, Germany, - the International Robert Schumann Choir Competition – which will take place in 2018 at the same time as Schumann’s 208th birthday.

Founded in 2013 by Jennah Delp Somers and Shane Troll this choir is located in Palo and brings together 300 girls in a year-round choir program. Their aim of connecting global voices as well as crossing cultures and socio-economic backgrounds matches the ideals of INTERKULTUR which are aimed at uniting voices from all over the world in a harmonious intercultural togetherness.

iSing's mission extends to underserved schools in Silicon Valley through a special school program which brings the choir's innovative curriculum to girls free of charge. Furthermore iSing provides young women with a choral music education that fosters artistry, leadership, and community in a creative and supportive environment.

iSing's choirs have toured internationally and have engaged in collaborations with renowned artists and choirs. As part of the choir’s global mission of connecting voices, it has produced six commissioned pieces since their founding in 2013, all of which have been published and performed throughout the world. The group is designed "just for girls" because the founders want to encourage girls to develop their potential as leaders, creators, and performers through music and use the empowering force of singing.

In Zwickau the singers will participate in the categories Youth Choirs of equal voices and Sacred Choral Music a cappella. Give the girls from the US a warm welcome live in Zwickau and get more information at the official event website or keep connected through Facebook.
