Johannes Brahms Int. Choir Festival & Competition

A tradition continues: From June 29 to July 2, 2019 – in cooperation with the city of Wernigerode and its Landesgymnasium für Musik – there will be a new edition of the Conductor’s Seminar, which was part of the popular International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition from 1999 to 2005 already. The lecturers for the seminar are the international renowned conductors André van der Merwe from South Africa and Romāns Vanags from Latvia. What is more, one of the most famous German youth choirs will act as studio choir: Landesjugendchor-Wernigerode under the leadership of Peter Habermann, who also takes charge of the Wernigerode conductor’s seminar together with INTERKULTUR’s Senior Artistic Director Prof. Dr. Ralf Eisenbeiß.

The seminar addresses to international students junior conductors, choir assistants and young professionals and takes place directly before the 11th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition 2019. After the seminar the participants have the opportunity to take part in the festival with their choir or compete in the competition.

Since 1999 the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition in Wernigerode is a crowd puller for choirs and music ensembles from all over the world.
