Have a choral lifetime experience in Italy!

Registration deadline for Voices for Peace extended

VOICES FOR PEACE

Keen on an expedition into the choral heritage of the “birthplace of Western culture”? Then seize the opportunity of an extended registration deadline until January 14 for INTERKULTUR’s Voices for Peace choral event in Perugia and Assisi from May 01-05, 2019.

Nine countries are already set and will present their choral skills to the international jury on the stages of St. Francis’ birthplace and one of the most powerful cities of the ancient Ionian League. Afghanistan, China, Finland, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Turkey will display a wide variety of their choral traditions in 12 competition categories.

The KOOK choir for example is an independent Afghan choir founded in 2016 and all singers are Afghan refugees living in Mashhad, Iran. The purpose of the KOOK choir is to sing together regardless of ethnicity, nation, and religion restrictions.

The Swiss women’s choir FRAUENCHOR ALTSTÄTTEN on the other hand is a historic secular amateur choir, which enriches the cultural life of his homeland since 1890. In Italy, the group is looking forward to experience valuable encounters with choirs from all over the world.

Finland also sends off a musical ambassador which describes “many voices, lots of noises, laughter, and the great love of music and making music together” as its constitutive elements: Thus the Sibelius Upper Secondary School Chamber Choir is counted among the most significant of the Finnish youth choirs.

The biggest choir which joins the event comes from China: The 1872 Xiangyue Choir arrives from Shenzhen, China with 65 singers and a lot of competition experience from participating in numerous provincial, municipal and international choir festivals.

More information about the event, the extended registration deadline and the choirs can be found at the event’s website or on Facebook!
