amarcord performs at gala concert in Wernigerode

Top class choral concerts on the occasion of the festival’s 10th anniversary in 2017

Johannes Brahms Int. Choir Festival & Competition

For the 10th time already in 2017 INTERKULTUR organizes the popular Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition in cooperation with the city of Wernigerode. On the occasion of this anniversary the world famous vocal ensemble amarcord from Leipzig will perform at a gala concert in the evening of July 6, 2017.

“This gala concert for the 10th anniversary is supposed to be one of the festival highlights,” says the artistic director of the event, Prof. Dr. Ralf Eisenbeiss. “In collaboration with the city of Wernigerode we were able to convert one of the best a cappella ensembles to our event – a great success and a proof that our Brahms festival has established internationally as well as in the Wernigerode region.”

amarcord was founded in 1992 by former and active members of the Thomanerchor and is now one of the worldwide leading vocal ensembles. Their work has been always crowned by great success. They received many awards, for example at the 1st World Choir Games 2000 in Linz, they won the German Music Competition in 2002 and were awarded an ECHO Klassik in the category “Ensemble of the year – vocal music” in 2012.

Detailed information about the gala concert and tickets will be published on the event website and on Facebook on time.

Interested choirs still have the chance to register for the event. All information can be found here. Early Bird registration deadline ends December 5, 2016.
