Eurovision Choir 2019 and Opening of the European Choir Games

European Choir Games 2019

Outstanding choirs from all over Europe gather at the Partille Arena, Gothenburg, Sweden on 3 August 2019 for the second edition of Eurovision Choir. At the same time the Opening Ceremony of the Grand Prix of Nations & European Choir Games, which takes place in Gothenburg from August 03-10, 2019, will be held. After a nationwide selection, 10 choirs were chosen to enter the stage of Eurovision Choir 2019 in Gothenburg and become ”Eurovision Choir 2019”.

Zero8 from Sweden, Almakalia from Belgium, Babite Municipality Mixed Choir MASKA from Latvia, Bonn Voice from Germany, Volve Vokal from Norway, Vocal Line from Denmark, Alba from Scotland, Jazzva from Slovenia, Cake O'Phonie from Switzerland and Ysgol Gerdd Ceredigion from Wales will enter the stage in this running order to win the hearts of choral music fans from all over the world, of the audience and of course the jury. Each choir performs a 4 minute program in the first round and following each performance the three jurors will give their comments. Afterwards 3 choirs are chosen to compete in the second and final round during which the jury will determine the overall winner.

The jury, consisting of Deke Sharon, heralded as “The Father of Contemporary A Cappella”, John Rutter, famous British composer and conductor and Katarina Henryson, founding members of The Real Group, evaluate the individual performances and finally announce the new Eurovision Choir 2019.

A special highlight are three Mass Choir performances with 450 participants singing songs of Sweden’s most famous musicians with all their heart: Mamma Mia (Abba), Without You (Avicii) and Dancing Queen (ABBA) will make the audience jump off their seats and from experience no throat will remain silent!
