Lighting the choral flame on Jan 24

Prelude to the World Choir Games 2020

World Choir Games 2020

The choral flame, symbolizing the prelude to the World Choir Games, will be officially lit on Friday, January 24 by Zuhal Demir, Flemish Minister of Justice and Enforcement, Environment, Energy and Tourism. The event takes place on the Martelarenplein in Brussels from 12:00 to 12:30 h this Friday with a choral contribution by the choir of the school of the Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege in Antwerp, which will participate in the Choral Flame concert series with an own concert on June 26.

The choral flame crosses Flanders and ignites 50 choir flame events from January 24 through July 4 before it ignites the great Choral Flame on July 5, 2020 during the Opening Ceremony of the World Choir Games (WCG) in the Sportpaleis in Antwerp.

Participation and inclusion are at the heart of the 50 choral flame events. They are about connecting associations, generations and communities, trying to bring people out of their isolation or create a social handhold for physically, socially or mentally vulnerable people.
