Become Grand Prix Winner!

Along with the EUROPEAN CHOIR GAMES 2015 there is the Grand Prix of Nations taking place in Magdeburg from July 5 - 12, 2015: A top-class competition for the best amateur choirs in the world!

The host city is located directly in the heart of Germany: Magdeburg – a city with a centuries-old history and the state capital of Saxony-Anhalt.

Magdeburg is one of Europe’s greenest cities. Numerous parks and green spaces shape the city, ideal for common singing in summer 2015.

Among others, the competitions of the Grand Prix of Nations - to be held in six different categories - take place in the amazing concert halls of the monastery “Unser lieben Frauen” and the Johanniskirche Magdeburg, which will also host major events like the Opening, Closing and Awards Ceremonies.

Furthermore the historic Festung Mark will serve as choir center and for Friendship Concerts and Singing Together events.

Further venues like the Petrikirche will welcome choirs for the "Night of choirs" and the Magdeburg Cathedral will host a the special peace concert "Power of the dream".

Magdeburg has a rich cultural life in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Located only 130 km west of Berlin it follows the impetus of the vibrant German capital adding its own history: The Baroque composer Georg Philipp Telemann was born here and Richard Wagner worked in Magdeburg occasionally. Events to their honor and many others fill the city’s cultural calendar each year.

By the way: The 9th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition in Wernigerode, one of INTERKULTUR’s most beautiful and famous festivals, will be held following the European Choir Games in the colorful city at the Harz which is only 70 km away.

A great opportunity to visit both events and to enjoy the numerous touristic attractions.

"The Grand Prix of Nations in Magdeburg was an inspirational musical journey. Interkultur can be so proud of the incredibly high standard."

Andre van der Merve, Juror, South Africa

"It has been exhausting for all of us, but has been one of the most magical experiences we have had with the choir."
