INTERKULTUR partner in Vietnam retires

Vietnam International Choir Competition

With the "Vietnam International Choir Competition" INTERKULTUR, together with the city of Hội An, launched the first international choir competition in the history of the country in 2011. This success was mainly due to the commitment and trust of Võ Phùng, the Director of the Center for Culture, Sports, Radio and Television of Hội An City. After 36 years in office, he was officially retired these days.

Through Võ Phùng's contacts to the Vietnamese central government, INTERKULTUR was able to sign the contracts for the first Vietnam International Choir Competition 2011 in Hanoi in 2010. Since then the competition takes place every two years and thus makes an important contribution to the development of choral singing in Vietnam. To this day, the "Vietnam International Choir Competition" is the only event of its kind in the country's history.

INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch would like to thank Mr. Võ Phùng for the excellent cooperation in the past and wishes to keep in contact: "The good cooperation with Mr. Võ Phùng and his excellent team has led to five extraordinary choir competitions in the beautiful city of Hội An. Of course I hope that Mr. Võ Phùng will stay with us in the future and visit our future events as a guest of honor. I wish him all the best for his well-deserved retirement".

The Vietnam International Choir Competition has meanwhile become a special highlight in INTERKULTUR's calendar of events: A festival of joy, music, singing and friendship in the midst of the magical surroundings of Vietnam.

The 7th Vietnam International Choir Competition is already being planned and will take place from April 8-12, 2021 under new management on the local side, in proven cooperation with INTERKULTUR. More information can be found here.
