Sing’n’Joy Princeton 2017: Starting in the competitions

Mixed Choirs will be the first to go on stage

Following yesterday’s Opening Concert today the first choirs will compete in the choir competition and present their skills in front of the international jury consisting of Aida Swenson (Indonesia), TJ Harper (USA, evaluates categories B, F and S), Morten Lauridsen (USA, evaluates categories A and C) and Gabriel Crouch (Great Britain).

Henry County Wildcat Chorale from the United States was the first to get a first impression of the concert hall at a stage rehearsal this morning. It will also be the very first group to open the competition in the “B1 - Mixed Choirs – Difficulty Level II” category. Their competition performance will even be presented in three languages. First piece will be in German: “Die Nachtigall” by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, followed by “O occhi, manza mia” by the Italian composer Orlando di Lasso. Their last piece will finally be performed in their native language: “This Marriage” by Eric Whitacre.

A very transnational opening of this international choir competition! It will be continued today and tomorrow with more competition concerts. The detailed schedule can be found here.

On Sunday the best choirs selected by the jury will go on stage once again and sing for the Grand Prize – Sing’n’Joy Princeton 2017. The winner of this competition will be awarded $ 2000 prize money.
