A festival with numerous pedagogical offers marks the close of the choral year 2015

Shunde 2015

From November 4-8, 2015 the Sing'n'Joy China 2015 – Choir Festival Shunde-Foshan will take place in Shunde/China. INTERKULTUR's last festival in 2015 features numerous educational possibilities concentrating on pedagogical issues and therefore represents a wonderful close of the event year 2015.

INTERKULTUR and the city of Shunde want to offer all participating choirs from the Netherlands, Malaysia, China, Philippines and Indonesia the possibility to gain further qualifications during workshops, evaluation performances and individual rehearsals. These pedagogical offers are being led by three renowned choral experts: Johan Rooze (Netherlands/ Republic of Korea), Katalin Kiss (Hungary) and Paul Phoenix (Great Britain).

During the festivals three workshops will take place with international choral experts, giving all singers e.g. advice regarding established vocal techniques and rhythms in the field of Jazz & Pop. One workshop will be led by Johan Rooze and take place on November 5 at 17h. Another workshop with Paul Phoenix will take place on November 6 at 11h. offering insights into the issue of rehearsals and presenting variations regarding the presence on stage and performance. Together with Katalin Kiss participating choirs will learn on November 7 at 11h a better understanding of the musical intent of a composer and how to interpret this intent as a choir.

In order to get in contact with other international singers and to convey one’s own culture to Chinese pupils Cultural Exchange Concerts will be performed on Thursday, November 5 at two schools in Shunde. Further highlights of the Sing'n'Joy China 2015 will be the gala concert with international and national choirs on November 6 at 19:30h. Furthermore we are looking forward to November 7 at 19:30h when all choirs will appear together on stage. Under the direction of the workshop leaders the choirs will perform three compositions according to the slogan "Singing together brings nations together": Now is the Month of Maying (Thomas Morley), Pandur-andandori (Lajos Bárdos) and Jasmin Flower (Chinese Traditional).

All events of the  Sing'n'Joy China 2015 – Choir Festival Shunde-Foshan will take place in major halls of the Shunde Performing Arts Center, presenting a dignified setting for the festival.
