From contrabass up to the countertenor
The Vokalisten Kärnten present a wide range of choral music
Only 8 days left until we will welcome 24 choirs from 14 different nations at the 13th International Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl in the beautiful Salzkammergut. We are pleased to get to know each single choir in the Upper Austrian Bad Ischl. Until then we want to introduce another ensemble, which can hardly wait to present their singing skills in the categories Folkore, Sacred Choral Music and Pop-Jazz-Gospel-Spiritual: The "Vokalisten Kärnten".
The "Vokalisten Kärnten" were founded in November 2002 and are musically lead by Erwin Podesser since 2013. The men's choir currently consists of 11 singers, which are able to sing in a wide pitch range from the deep "Basso profondo" to the countertenor.
The artistic repertoire ranges from various composition of renaissance to modern pieces, folklore from all over, originals from the King's Singers as well as pieces from the Greek Orthodox liturgy and of course the traditional Carinthian song (Kärntnerlied). Many songs can be found on one of five CDs of the choir, including on "Locht vom Himml die Sunn" (Carinthian songs) and "Der Herr ist überall" (mass by Huby Mayer). Here you get a little audio impression:
The biggest choral event for the Vokalisten Kärnten was the participation in the Choir Olympics in Graz, July 2008 with 20.000 singers from 93 nations, where the choir was selected by the jury as best Austrian men's choir in the category Folklore.
We can’t wait to welcome the “Vokalisten Kärnten” at the 13th International Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl 2016.
