The Aventura Chamber Choir joins the choral festival for the second time

Canta al mar - Festival Coral Internacional

This fall, from October 19 – 23, the beautiful city on the Mediterranean Sea will be made resound by to date 50 choirs from 24 different nations. In the ranks of the choirs is the Aventura Chamber Choir – in Danish "Kammerkoret Aventura" – that we would like to highlight in particular: The chamber choir from Denmark already takes part in the choir festival Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional for the second time. We’re still indulging in reminiscences of the festival days in 2013...

... back to the choir. Aventura started in 1984, founded by conductor Ellen Hess Thaysen. Several of the earliest members still sing in the choir, which today has about 20 singers of all ages.

Since 2000 the choir has built up a repertoire beside the normal classical a cappella music, namely medieval reenactment. This kind of music, again demanding its special vocal style, is performed in traditional costumes at medieval markets, festivals and other reenactment events in Scandinavia under the name "The Aventura Medieval Choir".  Furthermore the Aventura Chamber Choir’s repertoire includes well-known and more esoteric choral music, from Denmark, Scandinavia and Europe.

The Chamber Choir has also worked with other choirs and instrumental ensembles, including exchange visits with Swedish and Norwegian choirs. In fall 2016 the singers will travel to Calella/Barcelona in order to present their medieval repertoire and infect the new friends from all over the world with their music. INTERKULTUR is looking forward to welcoming Kammerkoret Aventura once again in Calella.

You want to join the Danish choir? Then register here until June 13, 2016 and be part of INTERKULTUR popular event Canta al mar – Festival Coral Internacional!
