International Franz Schubert Choir Competition is in full swing

Franz Schubert Choir Competition

It started this morning at 11:30 am. The first choir to enter the stage of the Schubertsaal in the Vienna Concert Hall and to compete in the Children’s Choirs category and in front of the international jury was „Lahden Musiikkiluokkien Laulupuu-Kuoro" from Finland. They were followed by Bolla Géza Gyermekkórus from Hungary and Children's Choir "Victoria" of M.A. Balakirev Children's Art School from Russia. Afterwards the competition was continued with performances in “Youth choirs of equal voices” and “Mixed youth choirs”.

And the competitions continued daylong. Choirs performed in different categories, from Male to Female to Mixed (Chamber) Choirs. In the evening the female voices of D’accord Choir from Austria closed the day with their performance in the “Female Chamber Choirs/Female Vocal Ensembles” category.

On Saturday morning competition performances by seven choirs in category “Sacred Choral Music” will follow. Afterwards the jury will announce the choirs that have been selected to sing for the Franz Schubert Choir Prize. This Grand Prize Competiton will start at 4 pm in the Mozartsaal in Vienna Concert Hall.
