Welcome to Gothenburg!

Tomorrow is the day: Eurovision Choir 2019!

European Choir Games 2019

On August 3, 2019 the Eurovision Choir 2019 will take place. Meanwhile all choirs, that represent their home countries in this TV competition, have arrived in Gothenburg, Sweden. The singers, representatives of the national broadcasters, organizers and jury met on Thursday evening for a first welcome event. Tension, a trace of nervousness, but above all anticipation and fun swing through the room on this evening. The Stora Teatern, a beautiful historical theater in Gothenburg, provides the setting for this first meeting and the introduction of the choirs.

The 10 European choirs, which will represent their country on Saturday, had the opportunity to introduce themselves individually and briefly - dance performances, small language courses and of course lots of singing gave all those present a great first impression of the upcoming TV show and the competition. One thing became clear in any case: it won’t be an easy choice for the jury.

But juror Deke Sharon, also known as the "father of contemporary a-cappella", called on the choirs not to see themselves as opponents but as best friends. The point is to make a great show for all spectators. We need more harmony in this world and what can this communicate better than choral singing? Already for the second time INTERKULTUR organizes this Eurovision competition together with the European Broadcasting Union, this year together with the city of Gothenburg. The best choir of this year's show will not only win the title "Eurovision Choir 2019", but also an all-inclusive trip to the Olympics of Choral Music, the World Choir Games 2020 in Flanders, Belgium.
