KL Children’s Choir
at the 2nd Asian Choir Games
(7 – 17 July 2009 / Republic of Korea)
Author: Young Choral Academy Bulletin Team (Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia)
"21 members from the KL Children's Choir were in Gyeongnam, South Korea from the 7th to the 12th of July 2009 for the 2nd Asian Choir Games. They had their share of drama - loading and unloading luggage from bus to hostel in the pouring rain, then a transfer from hostel to hotel again in the rain, flight schedules that were re-arranged due to bad weather - just to mention a few! However, they did us extremely proud and scored a Silver Medal for Malaysia in the Children's Choirs category! Congratulations to them and also kudos to all the effort put into it - all the extra rehearsals, the practice and exposure through concerts. Not forgetting also the parents who dedicated time and energy into coordination before and during the trip, transport for the extra rehearsals, attendance of logistics meetings and of course providing mental and physical encouragement to the students! You were a great and wonderful help. But their trip was also made possible due to all the other children from the choir and their parents too. A big THANK YOU to all of you who helped to contribute in one way or another in the fundraising - through buying of cookies and food at the Young Choral Academy Open Day back in March, purchase of "Confessions of A Shopaholic" tickets and Spa Artiyana vouchers. This of course extends out to all members of the Young KL Singers too, and friends of supporters of the Young Choral Academy for helping us push for sales of all fundraising items! Special mention and another big thank you also to The Ministry of Culture, Arts and Communication of Malaysia, Korean Air, the Korea Tourism Organisation, Hope Travel Ltd, Norlie's Cookies, and Spa Artiyana for their kind sponsorship. And last but definitely not least, to Thomas Schuele and INTERKULTUR for their support and help. Thank you for making this wonderful trip a reality for us!"
