Diponegoro University Choir Prepares for the World Choir Games 2010 in Shaoxing

“Music unites everyone. I think it’s totally right. Because in Diponegoro University Choir, there are so many members from a lot of faculties and different personalities. In this place, we can meet new friends, do brain storming, share any information, find our loves, understand each other, hang around from one place to another, do silly things, and of course do our lovely activity - singing!

Joining a competition is such an enormous project for us, just like World Choir Games. This project must be prepared perfectly and seriously. That’s why we handle this project seriously even though basically all of us are still young, such as fund raising. To collect money, we spent money from our own pocket and look for donations, beside that we also sold used clothes (2nd hand), and we did street jamming. For practice schedule, we made two shifts: afternoon and evening with the same portion, because in our university there are some faculties that hold night classes. Along with vocalizing, we also did psysical exercise including yoga to maintain both voice and breathing because we also join folklore category that needs strong physic condition and coreography. For costumes, we design our own costumes to make us comfortable when we wear it.

Everything has two sides. Just like this competition, there are two results, win or lose. We don’t care about that, the one that we are thinking the most is do our best. But if we win this competition, for us, it is an extrabonus from God. So we will join this competition, seriously and of course we don’t forget to pray all the time.”
