1st World Music Festival planned

Xiamen interested in being host city of the 1st World Music Festival

“The festival would be the beginning of a fine tradition", INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch says. "It is planned to be held every year and is to become a symbol for Xiamen’s cultural significance.”

The venue of the 4th World Choir Games, the beautiful coastal city in the South East of People’s Republic of China, enjoys a good reputation in the world of music. “This festival would help strengthen this reputation”, Titsch is convinced and he looks forward to more talks with the City Government.

Everybody remembers Xiamen as an open, hospitable and modern city. It’s the best basis to fetch back choirs and groups into the city of music!

The festival shall not only provide a platform for choirs, but also open up to dance groups, for example from the areas of tango, Brazilian samba, jazz, folk music and folklore dances from all around the globe. Furthermore, seminars, workshops and lectures are being planned.

Since 2006 Günter Titsch has been feeling very connected to the city and would like to contribute to the “cultural communication between Xiamen and the world”. In the year 2009 INTERKULTUR President Titsch received the honorary citizenship of the city of Xiamen.
