Who wants to conduct the Swedish Chamber Orchestra?

An International Master class in choir and orchestra conducting and an international course symphonic choir take place from October 18-24, 2014 under the baton of professor Gustaf Sjökvist, assisted by Katarina Andreasson, professor and concertmaster of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and Karin Oldgren, director of choral activities at Örebro University.

It takes place at Örebro University, Sweden, and is arranged by School of Music, Theatre and Art, Örebro University and SWICCO/Länsmusiken i Örebro in co-operation with INTERKULTUR. 

The international master class for choral and orchestral conductors in Örebro, Sweden is a project offering young musicians to have the unique possibility to meet and study by world-renowned professors. The focus will be on repertoire for choir and orchestra. The professional Swedish Chamber Orchestra (40 players) and Örebro Chamber Choir (40 singers) will be at hand for the students and the course will be on advanced level. Working language will be English.

The students will have the possibility to meet the choir and orchestra every day and the course will conclude with a public closing concert conducted by the students. The teaching time will include technique lesson, esthetics exchanges and discussion, practical work in rehearsal, how to work with orchestra versus choir, methodology of the rehearsal and the performance and preparational work.
