World Choir Games 2016

Where to go in four years?

Organizer of the World Choir Games travelled to hold business talks with representatives of a candidate city for the 9th World Choir Games 2016. From April 17 to 20 INTERKULTUR representatives visited the council of the Russian city of Sochi.

In the past Sochi had applied to host the World Choir Games (WCG) already. The city has good conditions to make it in the final selection of the candidate cities. Stefan Bohländer, Director New Events: “The experiences Sochi will be making with preparing and organizing the Olympic Winter Games in 2014 will be very helpful regarding the application.”

Apart from Sochi talks are going on with further cities from several continents. Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia is very interested in hosting the WCG 2016 and also representatives from the Turkish city of Antalya are planning to submit an application.
More applications are still welcome until next year the decision on the winner city to host the World Choir Games 2016 will be made.

The World Choir Games are bringing together choirs of the world in a peaceful competition. Inspired by the Olympic idea, every two years thousands of people from all continents are coming together for this competition.

This year the 7th World Choir Games are taking place in the United States, in Cincinnati for the first time ever. More than 360 choirs have registered so far to compete in 23 categories.

The World Choir Games 2014 are taking place in Riga, Latvia, European Capital of Culture 2014.
