Venice 2012

Choir competition and festival

Who will be there?

Total of 35 choirs from 19 nations have been getting in the mood for "Venezia in Musica 2012" for weeks.
From April 29 to May 3, 2012 they will be performing in front of judges coming from Great Britain, Italy and the Philippines.

“We’re looking forward to a mixed crowd from around the world. As always great results and performances are to expect!” says the Artistic Committee of the event and reminds of the past years’ high levels. The competition, which is under the patronage of the Province of Venice once again this year, combines competition and festival.

Singers will compete in competitions of altogether six categories of different levels of difficulty. It’s taking place in Lido di Jesolo, the famous seaside resort close to the Lagoon city.
In the mornings, afternoons and in the evenings concerts will take place on this region’s world famous squares; among them the church Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, the last resting place of Claudio Monteverdi.

It’s still uncertain, which of the choirs will qualify for The Champions Competition of the World Choir Games or Choir Championships by winning a Golden Diploma. However, the choirs coming from Italy, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain, France, Finland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mexiko, Norway, Poland, Netherlands, China, Russia, Sweden, Singapore, Slovenia and Venezuela are promising to create an outstanding cultural experience.

The Grand Prize Competition taking place on the last day marks the highlight of this choir competition, when the winner of „Venezia in Musica 2012“ will be determined. Please find daily reports on the INTERKULTUR blog.
