Singing in the Land of Gods - Singing in Kalamata

INTERKULTUR's international choir competition in Greece

Int. Choir Competition & Festival Kalamata

For the second time, the romantic city of Kalamata, located in the South Peloponnese, invites to the International Choir Competition and Festival in Greece.

Flowering almond trees, a historic old town with winding streets, endless olive trees and facing the sea - all this and much more will be offered by the Greek Kalamata to international choirs this year. After a successful premiere in 2015, choirs from all over the world are invited again, from the October 11-15, 2017, to celebrate the festival of choral music in the Land of Gods. The event will be held in cooperation with the city of Kalamata and INTERKULTUR - as well as with the support of the "Mikis Theodorakis International Foundation".

The 2nd Kalamata International Choral Competition and Festival combines the advantages of an international choral competition with various concert opportunities in a culturally diverse city. Thus the choirs can present their musical skills in front of an international competition jury and at the same time qualify for the Kalamata Grand Prize. On the other hand, they experience Kalamata as a living place of intercultural interaction. Friendship Concerts in Kalamata and the surrounding area, as well as Gala Concerts and a colorful Choir Parade through the winding streets of the city invite participating choirs as well as the inhabitants to celebrate the colorful festival in Greece together.

Interested choirs can benefit from the early booking discounts until March 6. The regular registration deadline ends on May 22, 2017. Further information about the 2nd Kalamata International Choral Competition and Festival can be found on the event website.
