Celebrating an ancient relationship

Bad Ischl welcomes children’s choir from Hungary to its choral festivities

Int. Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl

From May 2 - 6, 2018 the Children's Choir of Calvinist Primary School Kecskemét from Hungary joins the International Choir Competition and Festival Bad Ischl and reminds us of the long-ago times of Austria-Hungary, when both nations formed a multinational state and represented one of the world’s most significant powers at that time.

The Children’s Choir of the Calvinist Primary School of Kecskemét was established in 2004 and currently includes 65 boys and girls from the senior section. The group performs regularly at special events at school, at church, in town and also constantly receives invitations to different cultural events throughout the country. Since 2006 the singers participated in a choir competition and festival called „Singing Youth” in Kecskemét which takes place every two years. Every time the choir took part it was awarded a golden evaluation and twice they won the golden diploma, a national certificate of merit and special award. Further performances included the participation in a church event called „Calvinist songs” in Budapest, the Calvinist Music Festival in Budapest and an International Choir Competition in Venice. Besides the concerts the singers appear in plays and operas.

Curious to see the choir live in concert and indulge in the former summer capital of the regency of the Habsburgs? Take a look at the event here or at the event’s Facebook page.

Registration for choirs is still open until December 11, 2017.

See you in Bad Ischl!
