Great talents: Gibraltar joins the World Choir Games 2018
Gibraltar Youth Choir lines up for South Africa
In 2013 the Gibraltar Youth Choir, formerly known as Santos Productions Academy Choir, pocketed its biggest success so far by becoming Champion of the European Choir Games in the categories Jazz & Pop and Gospel & Spiritual.
It was not the only triumph for the singers and their conductor Christian Santos, who was awarded the Gibraltar Medallion of Distinction for services to popular culture: During the years they brought home a considerable number of medals and awards from choral festivals around the world. After their last appearance at an INTERKULTUR event in Calella 2016 they are ready to enter the world’s largest choir competition after Riga 2014 once again: This time they are heading for gold in the categories Pop Ensembles and Scenic Pop / Show Choirs at the World Choir Games in Tshwane, South Africa.

The choir, which was renamed when joining the Gibraltar Academy of Music and Performing Arts, is designed for singers between 8 and 21 years. This institution aims at supporting young talents and encouraging creativity by inspiring performers and musicians from a young age. Its ethos is to teach ‘lessons for life’, developing discipline as well as encouraging focus and allowing creativity to flourish.
