The Sound of Raschèr
Completely different sounds in Graz
Graz is all choirs – but also completely different sounds will be heard in Graz soon, such as saxophones. On July 10 the first saxophone workshop will be held in the framework of the 1st World Choir Championships for Youth and Young Adults and the 2nd Grand Prix of Choral Music. Singers attending the workshop will be listening to the “Sound of Raschèr”.
The Rachèr Saxophon Quartet is familiar with the combination of saxophone and choir and is meeting with great appreciation in the world of music. In the past it had different performances, among others with the London Voices, the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln, Rias Kammerchor from Berlin or the Netherlands Chamber Choir. On July 11 a second workshop will be held, influenced by these experiences, when “New compositions for choir and saxophone” will be presented to interested choirs this afternoon.
The quartet will have its first concert performance in Graz at the Opening Ceremony on July 10, when it is going to play an active role in the evening, directed by the Artistic director Franz M. Herzog. On the next day (July 11), there will be another gala concert in the famous Stefaniensaal in congress|graz (7:30 p.m.). This evening the quartet will perform a concert program filled with jazz sounds, together with the “Landesjugendchor Steiermark CantAnima”.
Since its foundation in 1969 the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet has been constantly performing in the most important concert halls of the United States, Asia and Europe. “The Kings of the Saxophone” (Vienna Newspaper) are now waiting for visitors in Graz, too, to have many beautiful moments of music.
Please take further information about more items on the schedule from the event’s website, the INTERKULTUR Blog or from announcements in the local press in Graz.
