“Credits to Xiamen’s worldwide reputation”

City of the World Choir Games 2006 appoints Günter Titsch to its honorary citizen

INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch is appointed as the only German this year’s honorary citizen of Xiamen in China. This was announced by the venue of the 4th World Choir Games 2006 in line with the 60th anniversary of the foundation of the People’s Republic of China. As proclaimed officially the city honours with this appointment Günter Titsch’s credits with respect to his promotion of the city’s worldwide reputation. Titsch cooperated with official authorities outstandingly and contributed in deepening and expanding Xiamen’s international relations.

In July 2006, 20,000 participants with 400 choirs celebrated the World Choir Games and made the South Chinese harbour city Xiamen resound with their music. Günter Titsch ranks among Wu Jingguo, member of the International Olympic committee (IOC), Spyridon Zagaris, mayor of Marathon (Greece) or pianist Yin Chengzong.

As Xiamen Daily announced on 1st October, altogether 17 Chinese from Hong Kong, Macao and Chinese Taipei, who are living abroad, as well as foreign friends were honoured with this appointment.
