Thrilling finale in Cologne
Christophorus Youth Chamber Choir is "The Best Choir in the West"
In a gripping heartbeat finale on Friday evening, December 16, more than a third of the WDR spectators (West German Broadcasting Cologne) voted for the young singers of the Christophorus Youth Chamber Choir from Versmold, Germany to the “Best Choir in the West” by telephone voting.
With an Argentinean tango "El último café" as well as the carol "In Dulci Jubilo" the winning choir competed successfully against its strong competitors: the First Cologne Barbershop Choir from Cologne, Grenzenlos from Overath, HeartChoir from Wetter and Groophonik from Detmold.
Twenty choirs from all over North Rhine-Westphalia sang in regional competitions for the title "The Best Choir in the West". The jury – consisting of Pe Werner, Rolf Schmitz-Malburg and Henning Wehland – nominated five choirs for the final round. Together with the prominent coaches Cassandra Steen, Oli P. and Giovanni Zarrella, the choirs have worked on their stage performances to shine in the finale. And it was absolutely worth it. The choirs thrilled the audience with spectacular performances.
The Christophorus Youth Chamber Choir and its director, Hans-Ulrich Henning, can now look forward to an exclusive performance with the professionals from the WDR Rundfunkchor.
INTERKULTUR congratulates the Christophorus Youth Chamber Choir and its conductor on this outstanding result!
