Vietnam International Choir Competition

According to the Gregorian Calender the New Year is already 26 days old, but for those people in Asia who celebrate the New Year in accordance with the Lunar Calendar 2017 will only begin on January 28.

In Vietnam the so called Tet celebrations, the Vietnamese New Year and Spring Festival marks the most important time of the year – similar to Christmas or Eid al-Adha in other cultural circles. The cities and its streets are decorated with flowers, branches and blossoms symbolizing coming spring and being a sign of good luck for the New Year for all people. The families clean up their houses, adorn them with red and golden Tet decorations, cook and prepare intensely for the celebration within the family circle.

In the night of the New Year’s Eve the families welcome the New Year with sacrificial offerings under the open air. The first day of the New Year is celebrated at home with the family. You won’t enter another one’s house without an explicit invitation on this day. Vietnamese people believe that the first person that enters a house on this day will determine the family’s luck for the whole year. For that reason people will be invited who are considered to be a lucky charm, for example because they had immense luck in the old year.

According to the Chinese Horoscope 2017 is the year of the fire rooster. During this year it is important to concentrate on the own strength, to develop satisfaction and a strong self-confidence. It will help you to progress with great ambition and much power.

So it’s a perfect year to start new projects and to set new objectives. Participation in the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition might be a great opportunity. With regard to the Tet celebration we decided to extend the Registration Deadline until February 13 – all interested singers still have the chance to register and have a thrusting start into the New Year.
