Artistic directors invite the Singing Together in Corfu

Corfu International Festival & Choir Competition

In addition to numerous INTERKULTUR competitions where choirs compete against each other, it has a long festival tradition to sing together and in harmony. These so-called "Singing Together" events will continue at the 1st Corfu International Festival and Choir Competition in order to make sure that singers from different nations are united in the peaceful harmony of music.

Two songs that could not be more different, will be sung at the choir festival’s Opening and Closing Ceremonies on October 13 and 15, conducted by the Artistic Directors Miranda Caldi (Greece) and Fred Sjöberg (Sweden):

The first song "Rouga" is a dance song that was composed in the style of Greek folklore. Tonal as well as rhythmic peculiarities will attract the interest of international choirs and perhaps also animate to dance along.

The second song " Fèy oh!" comes from Haiti and describes a leaf that falls from the tree. This leaf can be interpreted in many ways, politically and socially. Get an exact idea of how the Haitian folk song sounds in the following video:
