VOICES OF PEACE sing on the occasion of the 450th birthday of Monteverdi

VOICES FOR PEACE

The Choir Festival VOICES FOR PEACE will be opened on April 19 with an opening mass with the collaboration of international participants. 

From April 19-23, choirs from different countries will travel to the Italian town of Assisi, in order to sing in competitions and in many concerts. For the official festival opening the choirs will be part of the opening event in the middle of the mediaeval city of Assisi in the charming Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, one of the world's largest churches of Christianity and the place of foundation of the Franciscan Order.

In addition to Mozart's "Ave Verum", the mass program features many well-known pieces by the Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi including parts of the "Messa a quattro voci da cappella" for four voices, that will be performed on the occasion of the composer’s 450th birthday. At the end, the well-known canon "Dona Nobis Pacem" will sound and all participants and guests will be united under the peaceful roof of music.
