Vietnam International Choir Competition

On Monday, February 13 the registration deadline for the Vietnam International Choir Competition to be held in Hoi An from June 7-11, 2017 will officially end. Time to introduce another participating choir to you: Maybe you would like to join “La Fontana” from Japan for the event?

The “Female Choir La Fontana” has already been singing together since more than 10 years. It was established in Kagoshima, a western Japanese city, in 2005 by volunteer female members of Youth Chor Kagoshima whose conductor was Takafumi Kikumura.

Today the choir consists of working women of different ages, professions, experiences in chorus, and university degrees. They have a wide range of repertoire, including mainly unaccompanied pieces. The group is highly engaged in visiting hospitals and nursing care facilities and holding concerts in and around Kagoshima.

The Vietnam International Choir Competition marks their first participation in an INTERKULTUR event, but the group is already experienced in performing abroad: In 2012 they were invited to “Enlace Coral”, a choir festival in Guatemala, and performed in several cities during the stay.

“La Fontana” will compete in category “B – Difficulty Level II without compulsory piece” and will perform pieces by contemporary Japanese composers.
