Frankfurt: On stage with Voces8

Workshop Choir sang in concert together with the success ensemble from England

ON STAGE

On Sunday evening, September 18, approximately 80 singers concerted together with Voces8 on stage at the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten in Frankfurt. The joint concert was considered a culmination of a three-day workshop weekend under the artistic direction of the a cappella ensemble Voces8.

Together with the Frankfurter Singakademie and the support of professionals from England the participating singers of all ages and varying professional knowledge presented a colorful concert program from works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Benjamin Britten, London Grammar, to the Beatles and an African song. Even the little ones' gave the newly acquired knowledge to their best, as they performed Jessie J's "Price Tag" together with the grown-ups.

Both the three-day workshop program and the final concert with all participants were regarded as launch for the new pedagogical series "Singspiration Frankfurt" initiated by the Frankfurter Singakademie that would encourage people with the help of professionally-led training opportunities to sing and make music. With success! The primarily German singers and an Estonian choir enchanted not only the audience, but also seemed to be overwhelmed by themselves and their own vocal abilities that slumbered inside.

For three days they received professional input in the wide field of choral singing: starting from warming-ups about the correct pitch to stage performance and the perfect choral sound - the participants benefited in any way from the ensemble’s musical and educational experience.

The result of the workshop sounded good: the audience honored both Voces8 and the performance of the workshop choir with untiring applause and standing ovations. The sense of achievement and the feeling of having sung together with Voces8 in concert will remain in the singer’s memory for a long time.
