"Fest der Chorkulturen" in Berlin

Berlin Radio Choir and INTERKULTUR welcome 30 international choirs from 15 nations

Grand Prix of Nations

From February 1-5, the Berlin Radio Choir and INTERKULTUR will present the "Fest der Chorkulturen" for the first time. A total of 30 international choirs from 15 nations including Argentina, China, Latvia, Norway and Turkey will sing in a first-class choral competition, the Grand Prix of Nations Berlin 2017, and will enchant the Berlin audience with choral music from all over the world.

With an Opening Concert on February 1 in the Chamber Music hall of the Berliner Philharmonie, selected international choirs and the host Berlin Radio Choir, conducted by Nicolas Fink, will give a first taste of the upcoming days. In addition to international choral music, the festival hymn "Proclamation" composed by Ēriks Ešenvalds, the setting of a poem by Kim Stafford, will premiere.

INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch: "We can truly speak of an accolade for INTERKULTUR being guest in one of Europe’s best concerts halls. Together with our partner, the Berlin Radio Choir, one of the world's best choirs, we would like to wish all participants and guests four wonderful festival days in Berlin."

All-day Friendship Concerts in the Chamber Music Hall and the St. Matthew Church offer international encounters with choirs and complete the wide range of vocal music.

The festival’s highlight is the Closing Concert with the Berlin Radio Choir, in which all Grand Prix winners once again make their award-winning voices sound. In addition, 120 singers present the results of a Sing Along Workshop conducted by Nicolas Fink.
