Engagement pavilion to become a venue

Int. Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl

Acoustics, location, accessibility – all these aspects are important when it comes to selecting a suitable venue for the International Choir Competition & Festival Bad Ischl in Austria. But a touch of Bad Ischl’s imperial past is likewise favored by participating choirs and will create unforgettable memories. It is envisaged that one of the city’s most legendary sites becomes a possible venue for the choral coming together in Bad Ischl: The engagement pavilion at the imperial park which marks one of the hallmarks visitors encounter when following the footsteps of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

This gloriette pavilion is located in the park half-way up the path which leads from the east side of the Imperial Villa, a wedding present from Archduchess Sophie to her son Franz Joseph I and Sisi, up to the highest point of this forest track. The octagonal iron construction gained importance when Archduchess Marie Valerie, youngest daughter of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth, celebrated her engagement at this place.
