A choral stage in a World Heritage Site

The Euphrasian Basilica is a unique concert venue

ISTRAMUSICA

In fall 2017 INTERKULTUR launches its first four weeks long choral festival ISTRAMUSICA that leaves nothing to be desired. Choirs can choose individual travel dates and assemble an individual schedule for their festival program. And the host region Istria offers even outstanding venues.

Who doesn’t dream of singing at a place of historical significance, in a UNESCO World Heritage Site? The Euphrasian Basilica in Porec is such a place. It’s the most important and valuable cultural and historical sight in Porec, hence a performance at this place will be a unique and unforgettable experience for every choir. The Basilica dates back to the 6th century BC and is one of the best-preserved and significant sacred buildings in Croatia. It’s one of the most excellent examples of early Byzantine architecture in the Mediterranean region. It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997.

Expensive marbles, gorgeous mosaics, beautiful stuccos and inlaying made of stone and nacres still testify the glory and opulence from the construction period. The cathedral is named after Bishop Euphrasius in whose period the basilica was built (between 543 and 554).

More information about participation and registration for the ISTRAMUSICA choir festival can be found at the official event website. The Early Bird Registration Deadline ends on February 13, 2017.
