10th choral gathering in Wernigerode

Jubilee event has many surprises ready

Johannes Brahms Int. Choir Festival & Competition

For the 10th time already in July 2017 choir singers from all over the world will come to Wernigerode to sing together and put their skills to the proof at the 10th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition. This year the Wernigerode residents can look forward to many special performances.

The Tianjin Dolphin Hearing Disabled Children’s Choir from Northern China is the only choir in the world consisting of hearing impaired children. It’s one of the choirs that decided to perform in front of the jury from July 5-9, 2017. All singers use cochlea implants, which make a full choral experience possible. Since its foundation in 2014 the singers receive a weekly singing training and since then their performances keep on impressing the audience as well as Chinese and international media.

Along with the singers of Tianjin Dolphin Hearing Disabled Children’s Choir also the Stellenberg Girls’ Choir from South Africa – currently one of the best girls’ choirs in the world – and the choirs of the Linn-Benton Community College in the United States have registered. It especially shows that the Brahms Choir Festival has become an impressive symbol of a high-level competition, exciting concerts and colorful folklore from around the world.

The 10th edition of the festival in summer 2017 will also welcome top-class choral ensembles like amarcord and the Kammerchor Wernigerode from Germany who lend the celebration an appropriate setting.

Apart from regular competitions and the final singing of the best choirs for the “Johannes Brahms Choir Prize 2017” also the audience will turn into judges by voting for their favorite choir to be awarded the Audience Prize at the end of the event.

Registration for the Int. Johannes Brahms Choir Festival & Competition is still possible until February 13. Learn more at www.wernigerode.interkultur.com
