European Choir Games 2015

Following the amazing World Choir Games 2014 another spectacular choral event is to be held in Riga, Latvia in 2017: The Grand Prix of Nations & 3rd European Choir Games will make the city resound once again! Let us introduce the first international group that has registered and will be in Riga from July 16-23, 2017:

The Shiran Choir from Israel is the first international group registered! Founded in 1979 by composer Haakov Hollaender (1929-2014) Shiran Choir consists of 35 members, some of whom have been there since the very beginning and are singing in the choir for almost 30 years today.

Since 2002, David Sebba has been Music Director and arranges all of the compositions sung by the choir. Shiran’s repertoire comprises both Israeli songs, as well as songs from around the world. As well as participating in musical events, festivals, concerts and singing with vocal ensembles all around Israel, the Choir has performed with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra and with the Symphonette Raanana Orchestra. The group has also participated in recordings and live radio and TV broadcasts.

Shiran Choir will perform in one of the countless Friendship Concerts to be held at amazing venues in Riga and the Latvian countryside. The singers will enjoy the international exchange with other groups and will spread the message of peace and happiness through singing in Latvia and the world.
