Estonian Television Girls’ Choir to compete at Eurovision Choir of the Year

European Choir Games 2017

The Estonian Television Girls’ Choir has developed into one of the world’s best youth choirs under the leadership of the choir’s founder and artistic director Aarne Saluveer, who is also Estonia’s representative in the World Choir Council.

The choir is also considered a cultural ambassador of its home country and has given concert tours around the world. Throughout its musical journey the choir has performed also on international TV and radio channels.

The Estonian Television Girls’ Choir has also great experience with competitions organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU): In 2005 the girls won the first prize in the youth category of the EBU International Radio Choir Competition “Let The People Sing”. The girls also participated of the Eurovision Song Contest of 2002 in Tallinn.

Representing Estonia in the Eurovision Choir of the Year TV show is another climax in the choir’s biography. The group’s repertoire ranges from spiritual and secular music of different ages to folk programs with choreography, modern pop and jazz music and innovative crossover projects with 30 singers taking part, all this summing up to a musical experience of undiscovered acoustic scenery.

Eurovision Choir of the Year is a new format in the Eurovision event family led by the Eurovision Song Contest. Its first edition will be held in Riga on July 22 and be broadcasted in nine European countries. More information at www.eurovisionchoir.tv.
