Talks with Xiamen continued
1st World Music Festival
Xiamen, host city of the 4th World Choir Games in 2006, and INTERKULTUR have been close for a long time. Reason enough to resume past talks about the 1st World Music Festival and to go on with the planning.
On this occasion representatives of the city of Xiamen under the leadership of Luo Caifu, Director General Adminstration of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication of Xiamen Municipality Administration, and INTERKULTUR representatives were meeting in Frankfurt/Main. INTERKULTUR was represented amongst others by its President Günter Titsch and the Director INTERKULTUR China, Wang Qin.
Referring to the previous collaboration with INTERKULTUR Caifu said it was “outstanding”. The organization had brought a successful event, the 4th World Choir Games, into the city. “This international choir competition was the largest and most successful event in the city of Xiamen so far,” stressed Caifu. Best conditions to continue collaboration.
Apart from talks about general event-related questions special attention was given to the topic of sponsoring. Caifu was impressed by possibilities to open up for the 1st World Music Festival in Xiamen through existing contacts to Procter & Gamble. P&G is market leader of consumer goods and it’s already Official Presenting Sponsor of the 2012 World Choir Games.
“We have to make continuative decisions to get the 1st World Music Festival started soon”, stressed Günter Titsch. For this reason, new appointments have been scheduled for spring 2012 to sign the contracts.
The 1st World Music Festival expects 100 choirs to come from all around the world and also from the own country China. The event is scheduled for a date in spring 2013 and is supposed to be held biannually then. Since 2006 Günter Titsch has been feeling connected to the city and he would like to contribute to the “cultural communication between Xiamen and the world”. In 2009 the INTERKULTUR President was nominated honorary citizen of the city of Xiamen.
