Surprise for competition newcomer

Happy faces at Prizegiving Ceremony

“It was a big honor and we really enjoyed to be part of such a fantastic event“, said Emma Withill from the Northern Spirit Singers (Great Britain). The choir participated for the first time and was overwhelmed to be awarded with a Golden Diploma.
There was another surprise for the choristers under the direction of Andy King at the end of the regular Prizegiving Ceremony: a Special Prize for the outstanding performance of the piece “Bogorodhitse Devo, raduisya” by the composer Sergej Rachmaninov.

Further surprises were the Special Prizes to Hermanus Pro Musica Choir (South Africa) under the direction of Annemarie Joubert and a Conductor Prize to Lee Shiak Yao, director of KLANG CHAMBER CHOIR (Malaysia).

The best score was given to the choir “4x4 Frauenchor der Pädagogischen Hochschule HD” (Germany), conducted by Heike Kiefner-Jesatko.

Winner of the Grand Prize of “Venezia in Musica 2011” was the choir Zbor Svetega Nikolaja Litija (Slovenia) under the direction of Helena Fojkar Zupančič.

Also there have been happy faces among choirs from Germany, Greece, Russia and Austria when they were awarded with a Diploma of Honor for several participations in INTERKULTUR competitions. The choir “Kammerchor Clara Wieck Zwickau” was part of a competition for the sixth time.

The 9th “Venezia in Musica” was the 110th event in the INTERKULTUR event series. It offered many impressing choir performances of a high level, which is confirmed by the high number of awarded Golden (22) and Silver Diplomas (10). Lorena Mucelli, head of cultural department in Jesolo, is already looking forward to the next Venezia in Musica (April 29 to May 3, 2012).
