Qingdao plans collaboration with INTERKULTUR

Chinese seaport Qingdao applies for host city of 2014 World Choir Championships for Youths and Young Adults

On July 27, 2012, INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch and the Mayor for Culture of the Chinese seaport town Qingdao, Mrs. Lan Xin met for a work meeting and reception in Qingdao. Further colleagues of INTERKULTUR were also part of this meeting as well as Qingdao representatives of the departments for Culture, Radio, TV, Press and Education.

The Mayor pointed out that INTERKULTUR has already made its mark as a professional organizer of events and as a provider for education especially for the benefit of the youth. Thus, Qingdao has not only submitted their application as a host city for the 2014 World Choir Championships for Youths and Young Adults, but plans for ongoing collaboration in terms of education of choir directors for childrens’ and youth choirs are also in progress.

INTERKULTUR President Titsch distinctly appreciated this application, since Qingdao is also known as “island of music” throughout China.

INTERKULTUR is well-experienced in organizing choral events in China. Following two World Choir Games (Xiamen 2006 and Shaoxing 2010) the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships in Guangzhou marks the third INTERKULTUR event in China taking place from November 8 to 14, 2012.
