New program highlight at the European Choir Games

Long Night of Choirs

The first “Long night of Choirs” is a new highlight on the schedule of the 1st European Choir Games (ECG) in Graz, Austria. Concerts until midnight promise exciting moments for singers and visitors.

As a special highlight on July 18, 2013 there are several choral concerts until midnight according the motto: Singing as much as the vocal chords allow! Regardless of results or competition participation choirs can join in the “Long night of Choirs”. Concert venues are both churches and the city’s synagogue, and also public squares and concert halls like Stefaniensaal or Minoritensaal will be filled with singing.

The “Long Night of Choirs” is organized in the course of the “Songs of Spirit” Festival and will bring together participants from all nations and different religions. Also Graz residents and visitors will be involved and will be asked to play an active role at some concert venues, where songs will be practiced and sung together.

“The ‘Long Night of Museums’ or the ‘Long Night of Churches’ is a tradition in many European cities. For the first time there’s a “Long Night of Choirs” in Graz! It’s going to be a very special kind of intercultural cooperation,” the Artistic Directors Gabór Hollerung and Franz Herzog agree.

Graz always creates something new! Find more information about participation at the European Choir Games (July 14 to 21, 2013) here.
