INTERKULTUR supports choral activities in Sweden

New choral center SWICCO in Örebro inaugurated

On October 22, 2009, the Governor of Örebro County, Sweden, Rose-Marie Frebran inaugurated the new Swedish International Choral Center Örebro (SWICCO) in an official ceremony. The opening was framed by a concert of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, together with the World Youth Choir, which - at the same time - celebrated its 20th birthday. The concert was conducted by the Danish violinist and conductor Nikolaj Znaider in the "Örebro Konserthus".

SWICCO will aim to foster choral singing mainly for youth and children, integration and education. It will promote international encounter through choral singing and bring international choirs and choristers to the Örebro region, which is already known throughout Sweden for its vast choral life. Located in Örebro Castle, SWICCO will be directed by it's founder Fred Sjöberg, member of INTERKULTUR's World Choir Council. It will also be host to INTERKULTUR itself, which have installed an Official Representative for Scandinavia - Mrs. Kicky Rosén-Bejstam - about one year ago.
INTERKULTUR wishes great success to Fred Sjöberg and his team!
