Historical charter handed to INTERKULTUR

Citizens of Shaoxing proud of World Choir Games

The citizens of Shaoxing are taking pride in the organization of the World Choir Games in their city. The Lord Major of the City, Qian Jianmin, assured a delegation from Germany and the USA of this fact. The World Choir Games are the cities biggest international event of all time. Qian stressed on March 14 that they are furthermore the most important event in the city full of tradition in the year of the great anniversary. In 2010 the city in the southeast of China celebrates the anniversary of its foundation 2 500 years before.

The Lord Major presented INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch with a reprint of the charter from the year 490 before Christ. Titsch said he was very excited about this “respectful gesture”. In Qian’s opinion the biggest choir competition makes a precious contribution to encouraging and enlarging the international cultural exchange worldwide. Under the impression of the major event in July people will talk about “The Venice of the east” even more. Shaoxing is crossed by a plurality of canals and waterways. So it shows an image similar to the city at the Adriatic Coast of Italy.

Representatives of INTERKULTUR and the city of Cincinnati had been travelled for an exchange of ideas and information to Shaoxing. The city will host the World Choir Games from July 15 to 26. The 7th World Choir Games will take place in Cincinnati, USA, in 2012.
