Guangzhou invites

Choir conductors from all over China gather in Guangzhou next spring

For the sixth time INTERKULTUR is organizing a seminar week themed “Western choral music” for Chinese choir conductors. The event will be in the Southern Chinese city of Guangzhou (Canton) from March 12 to 17, 2012. Christian Ljunggren, Artistic director from INTERKULTUR, is leader of the seminar week.

Zimfira Poloz from Canada holds courses about children’s and youth Choirs. Poloz enjoys an international reputation also in fields of female choirs.
Professor Yang Li from Peking will give guidance on how Chinese choir conductors can approach Western music in the easiest way. Gábor Hollerung, conductor and Artistic director from INTERKULTUR, offers a special master class for conductors.

The individual seminars give guidance and ideas for conducting, style, interpretation, rehearsal work, competition strategies and particularly for presentation of international choral music from different traditions and ages of music history. Two outstanding choirs from the host city will contribute to seminars and master class, the female choir and the mixed choir of South China Experiment Art Association.

The seminar week ends with handing over diplomas and certificates to the participants and a joint closing concert on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Please take a look on the detailed schedule. 

The seminar is organized in collaboration between the city of Guangzhou and INTERKULTUR China. Guangzhou is host city of the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships in November 2012. During the competition also seminars for choir conductors and a symposium for participants from all around the world will be held (November 11 to 14, 2012).
