Final Champions named
Great week of music, fellowship and joy!
Applause and happiness came up in the last few hours in Cincinnati's U.S. Bank Arena. The final five Champions of the 2012 World Choir Games were crowned today at the fourth Awards Ceremony at U.S. Bank Arena. Further Champions had been announced yesterday evening.
The five Champions named Saturday are:
- Children's Choirs: Vocalista Angels (Indonesia)
- Mixed Chamber Choirs: The Sunday Night Singers (USA)
- Musica Contemporanea: Stellenberg Girls Choir (South Africa)
- Scenic Folklore: Kearnsey College Choir (South Africa)
- Spiritual: The Aeolians of Oakwood University (USA)
The day before announced Champions came from Latvia, Canada, China and from the USA. “We are very excited, that the choirs from the host country also entered the stage for the Medal awardings, Congratulations!” said Günter Tisch, President of INTERKULTUR and the World Choir Games. The Champions named this morning and at yesterday evening's Awards Ceremony will perform at a Champions Concert in the Music Hall.
In The Open Competition 43 Golden Diplomas, 86 Silver and 24 Bronze Diplomas were awarded, in The Champions Competition 106 Gold Medals, 139 Silver Medals and 19 Bronze Medals went to the choirs. For a for a complete list of winners in each category visit this page.
The next World Choir Games in 2014 will be in Riga, Latvia.
