Festival and competition in Western USA
Reno proceeds to become a choir city
The American West opens up to vocal music from all over the world. INTERKULTUR invites choirs to join the 2nd American International Choral Festival (AICF) in Reno-Tahoe in Mai 2011.
Over a period of five days American show qualities admired around the world unify with musical styles and traditions of other cultures to form a mix never seen before. The city and its surroundings become a meeting place for American choirs and vocal groups from all over the world.
Workshops for choirs and their conductors amongst others are typical elements of an INTERKULTUR event. These are going to be combined with consultation rounds. Representatives of the artistic section provide advice to the participants. After every rehearsal they give prompt feedback about ability and skills to the ensembles. According to INTERKULTUR’s variety of experiences it’s a “successful combination” beyond the competitions to present new choir literature to the ensembles that they are not yet familiar with. It is to motivate them to try out something unusual and to incorporate it into
their repertoire.
The competitions are divided into a total of ten categories. This ensures the opportunity for every choir to appear at its best. INTERKULTUR is looking forward to acceptances from all around the world – as from semi-professional to lay choirs, church, university, college, community, children’s, barbershop and jazz choirs. Numerous concerts will be additional subjects of the AICF’s event program. They will be given on region’s public places. INTERKULTUR sees this as a magnet for a big audience. Special information concerning the participation in the competitions and in the festival can be found in the announcement.
INTERKULTUR is organiser of the American International Choral Festival in Reno in the US state of Nevada from May 4 – 8, 2011. In November 2010 the first AICF will be held in St. Louis, Missouri.
