A voice to the boys

All-City Boychoir Festival in Cincinnati

Cincinnati offers several choral events. Last Saturday the first-annual “All-City Boychoir Festival” took place in the host city of both World Choir Games and May Festival. The Cincinnati Boychoir, organizer ofthis festival, addressed to young participants, boys aged six to 13 from all over the Cincinnati area.

In the morning it started with rehearsing music, followed by learning music theory and by further rehearsals. Of course, getting to know each other with fun music-based games and activities were not missing.

All they’ve learned this day was presented to the public later that day. Festival Choir, Cincinnati Boychoir Concert Choir and Training Choirs presented the result in a concert free of charge. The concert was held on 1:00 pm in Christ Church Cathedral.

Christ Church Cathedral will enjoy sounds of singing as a venue of the World Choir Games as well.

Also The Cincinnati Boychoir can be heard in July 2012. They will be part of the 7th World Choir Games hosted by their home city. The choir is conducted by Christopher Eanes, who already is familiar with the events from the past. Eanes is member of the Musical Advisory Committee for the World Choir Games and acted as an adjudicator for the 2011 World Choir Championships in Graz, Austria.

The World Choir Games is taking place from July 4 to 14, 2012, for the first time in a city in the USA. In 2010 it was in Shaoxing, China. More than 360 choirs have already registered.
