2012 World Choir Games in Cincinnati
“Sōla” from Latvia wins three Gold Medals
“Sōla” of the Latvian Academy of Culture won three Gold Medals in the World Choir Games in Cincinnati (USA) – in the Mixed Choirs, Folklore and Musica Sacra categories.
Their best result was in Musica Sacra where they achieved 93.88 points. A wonderful success for the choir competing in The Champions Competition!
This choir not only became Gold Medal winner but was one of the audience's darlings – in all concerts and competition performances the choir was rewarded with standing ovations.
The first week of the World Choir Games is over, and “Sōla” is going back to Latvia. In the second week of the Games, the vocal ensemble “Latvian Voices” will be in Cincinnati. They will perform at a press conference on July 13, 2012 as representatives from the host city of the 2014 World Choir Games.
The World Choir Games are held from July 4 to 14, 15.000 participants including 362 choirs are participating in the Games. The World Choir Games are the largest international choral competition.
In the year 2014 the World Choir Games will be held in Riga (July 9 – 19, 2012) as part of the events for Riga European Capital of Culture 2014.
