100 days to go for the Championships

Countdown for 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships started in Guangzhou

A colourful show featuring music and dance performances marked the 100 days countdown for the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships (XPICC) last Tuesday, July 31st. During the event INTERKULTUR President Günter Titsch and Gan Xin, Minister for Publicity of the Guangzhou, China Municipality as well as Zhang Kaihua, Director from the Ministry of Culture in Beijing started the countdown together with further representatives from the Guangzhou municipality and INTERKULTUR in the Guangzhou Opera House.

Guangzhou children ballet also introduced the mascot "LeLe" in their performance. In his greetings, president Titsch pointed out the significance of the name giver, composer Xian Xinghai, who was very much interested in music of other nations and cultural traditions.

Xu Bin, a famous musician and composer of the region was responsible for the programme of the show and also contributed the majority of the featured pieces, composed by him. Xu Bin is also the Artistic Director of the XPICC.

INTERKULTUR President Titsch and his delegation had been welcomed by the minister of publicity in a reception at noon the same day. In this meeting, the minister had pointed out that the region would do all necessary efforts to support INTERKULTUR in carrying out the event. Titsch had thanked for the support and he had invited Gan Xin for the 8th World Choir Games 2014 in Riga, Latvia.
