Lecture in Xi An

Further pedagogical exchange: conference for choral composing

First Conference on choral composition in Xi An (Shaanxi Province) has closed with success. Another exchange with INTERKULTUR is being planned.

Under the direction of the renowned Chinese composer Yang Hongnian and the conductor Lu Zaiyi the conference closed on October 2, 2011. Some of the country’s most famous composers and choir directors discussed the topic "New Chinese compositions" and dealing herewith in the adaptation in choral singing.

Christian Ljunggren, Artistic Director of INTERKULTUR joint these days with a guest lecture. Ljunggren spoke from his perspective on choral music in China and its development in over two decades and provided an overview of the content of the educational work of INTERKULTUR. He described the conference as a great opportunity for choirs and the music scene and called it "the beginning of something new".
Ljunggren was invited to work with the conservatory in Xi An in the nearer future.

The conference was organized by the Choral Festival Xi An organization together with the Musicians Association of Xi An in cooperation with the China Chorus Association. INTERKULTUR, a leading initiator of choral competitions and festivals, sees its task particularly in the development and improvement of  educational offers.

Numerous seminars and projects already took part in the past. The next opportunities are placed in the course of the 1st Xinghai Prize International Choir Championships, which will be held from November 8 - 14, 2012, in Guangzhou (Canton), China.
